Summary of Here I love you by Pablo Neruda
The speaker loves his beloved wherever he goes. He finds himself in the dark dense forest of the pines where the wind is blowing disentangled through the moonlit night. The moon glows like the phosphorous on the vagrant water beside the pine wood. He loves her absence. The snow falls down and spreads in dancing figures and there he remembers her. A big sea bird, seagull comes and slips down into the water and he feels as if she comes like the bird. Sometimes, there are sailors and sometimes, he looks at the high stars. He finds his beloved nowhere. He finds himself on the black cross of a ship alone after she left him. Here, the black cross of the ship is the symbol of death and he feels that he is heading towards death alone.
He says that sometimes he gets up early in the morning and he finds his soul wet, being deserted, left alone and exhausted. He looks far away to the sea which sounds with and infinite echo. He goes to the port and there he loves her, remembers her. He looks at the horizon at the bay and the horizon hides his beloved. He says that he still loves her even in the impossibility of the cold things. Sometimes, he sends his kisses on the heavy vessels that go and disappear in the horizon for no arrival. And he finds himself like the old anchors of the ship that goes away forgetting the anchor. He feels tired and hungry for no fulfillment. Then he realizes that he loved such a person who is not there with him, who is so far away . His sad effort fights with the darkening twilight.
But as soon as the night appears, he feels happy because the biggest star in the sky looks at him with her eyes and the leaves of the pine sing her name with him. He feels as if he is close to her at the night air. Thus, the speaker recalls his beloved and becomes happy at last.
